Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for admission through the CAT exam may differ from institute to institute. A candidate needs to satisfy the eligibility criteria of CAT 2024.
- Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree (minimum 3-year course duration) with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST/PwD categories).
- Candidates who have arrears in the undergraduate course can apply and get themselves registered for the CAT. Also, candidates who scored more than 50% (45% in case of the reserved category) in the final year subject examination even if he / she has arrears are eligible to apply for the CAT 2024. Candidates in their final year of pursuing a Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants in this category are however, required to furnish a provisional degree completion certificate issued by the principal/registrar of an institution.
- No age barrier has been specified by the conducting authority for participants of the CAT exam.
Therefore, any aspirant from any walk of life can apply for the CAT exam.

The queries typed in the TITA (Type-In-The-Answer) format will not be penalized if they are either not attempted or answered incorrectly.
- This is the section where your verbal and reading aptitude gets tested at the CAT exam. It includes a wide range of subjects, like comprehension and reasoning. Para jumbles, Odd Man Outs, paragraph completions, Para Summary, Verbal logic, and Reading comprehension. Moreover, your reasoning would get strengthened with syllogisms, analogies, and antonyms.
- It majorly covers all subjects such as basic arithmetic, advanced algebra, and geometry among others in the quantitative aptitude section of your mathematical abilities.

The DILR section assesses your reasoning and problem-solving ability. It includes a very diverse set of topics which come under its purview, such as puzzle solving, data interpretation, seating arrangement, Venn diagram, blood relations, and many more important topics. Understanding concepts about syllogisms, series, etc. is necessary in logical problems.
Besides, data analytics will be supplemented by knowledge of binary logic, coding-decoding and data sufficiency.

A: Here are a few points:
- Candidates who are pursuing a professional degree, CS/CA/ICWA not having any undergraduate degree are not eligible to appear for CAT.
- Those candidates who do not hold either of the degrees, such as professional or bachelor are not eligible.
- Candidates who have scored less than 50% (45% in case of SC/ST/PwD category) in graduation final examination are not entitled to appear for CAT.
- Candidates holding a degree not recognized by the UGC/MHRD/AICTE, are not eligible to appear for the CAT examination.
